Bats in the Attic
Little Brown Bats and Big Brown Bats are common throughout Ontario. While they are incredibly beneficial for insect control, they often roost in residential attics, soffits, and wall voids. They can squeeze through gaps as small as a dime (10mm).
You may notice bats flying out from your roofline at dusk, hear high-pitched squeaking or scratching in the walls at night, or find accumulation of bat guano (which resembles dark mouse droppings but turns to dust when crushed) on your siding or patio.
Our Legal Bat Exclusion Process
Because bats are protected by law, extermination is illegal. Apex Pest Control utilizes specialized, humane exclusion techniques to gently evict the colony.
- Detailed Inspection: We perform a meticulous inspection of the entire roofline to locate the primary roosting entry point and identify every other microscopic gap that could be used as an alternate entry.
- Complete Sealing: We seal 99% of the roofline, chimney flashing, soffit gaps, and vents with commercial-grade silicone and steel mesh.
- One-Way Bat Cones: Over the primary entry points, we install specialized one-way bat cones or netting tubes. When the bats leave to hunt at dusk, they drop out of the tube but cannot navigate back up inside.
- Final Removal & Cleanup: After confirming the colony has completely vacated, we remove the one-way tubes, seal the final holes, and can provide attic remediation services to clean hazardous guano.
